How to use this guide
Contests appear in county ballot order. The name in large type is the candidate the Council recommends, with the ballot designation beneath it. Where we have taken no position, the contest says so.
Your ballot may differ
Placer ballots differ street to street. A contest listed here may not appear on your ballot if you live outside that district or trustee area. Check the sample ballot the county mailed to you in October.

Local measures
Our position on each measure, with a plain summary of what it would do.
Measure A · Simple majority · Council pay
Amends the city charter to raise council member compensation from $600 a month, set by voters 26 years ago, to $2,550 a month, with annual inflation adjustments capped at 5 percent.
Measure B · Two-thirds vote · Parcel tax
Repeals two existing parcel taxes and an assessment and replaces them with a single $375 annual parcel tax on single-family parcels, raising about $5.75 million a year to reopen closed stations, with audits and citizen oversight.
Measure C · Majority vote · Sales tax
Establishes a half-cent general sales tax providing about $8 million a year for general city purposes, including police and fire response, parks and wildfire prevention, until ended by voters.
Measure D · 55 percent vote · School bonds
Authorizes $288 million in bonds, averaging $15.8 million a year while outstanding, at about $59 per $100,000 of assessed value, to renovate classrooms, roofs and heating systems and to expand career technical education.
Measure F · Majority vote · Sales tax
Establishes a one-cent general sales tax providing about $6 million a year, presented as preventing cuts to police, fire and emergency medical response, with a citizen oversight committee and annual audits.
Measure G · Simple majority · County charter
Extends the deadline for the Board of Supervisors to fill a vacancy from 30 to 60 days before the Governor may appoint, and requires vacancies arising 130 days or more before a statewide primary to go on that ballot.
Measure H · Simple majority · County charter
Allows alternative procedures for removing the County Executive Officer if they are specified in an employment agreement, while preserving the Board of Supervisors' oversight of the position.
