Unredacted Justice: What the Epstein Files Reveal

I have spent hours combing through as many of the files as I could stomach. For those of you who have not, let me save you the time: don’t. It is far more heartbreaking, wicked, and sinister than I could ever have imagined.

The Epstein files are a story of exploitation, the abuse of power, and the depravity of humanity. On January 30, 2026, the Department of Justice released nearly 3.5 million pages related to Epstein, including more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images. Members of Congress, victims, and the general public have been discontent, however, at the mass redaction of the files, which has seemed to cover names and identities of hundreds of potential conspirators and participants in the sexual exploitation of underage women.

I have spent hours combing through as many of the files as I could stomach. For those of you who have not, let me save you the time: don’t. It is far more heartbreaking, wicked, and sinister than I could ever have imagined. I’ll share just a few that I believe will encapsulate the vileness. In a 2011 email from Jeffrey Epstein, he recalls an exchange with one of the young girls:

“She felt gods presence next to her when she was in bed… she knows that Jesus waters over her [...] and he helped save her life. Whoops.” In response, the recipient said, “You should dress up as him when you see her.”

In another exchange, Peggy Siegel (a prominent publicist) wrote, “Can bring a little baby back for you… or two. Boys or girls?” In another, Jeffrey wrote, “Thank you for a fun night… your littlest girl was a little naughty.”

King Solomon said, “He who justifies the wicked and he who condemns the righteous are both alike an abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 17:15, ESV). Justice knows not tribal loyalty or fealty. If justice is only pursued when it is politically advantageous, it is not justice at all.

In 2 Samuel 13, we read an account of sexual violence inside the house of David. Amnon, David’s son, becomes obsessed with his half-sister Tamar. He rapes her. Tamar pleads with him to stop. One of the most devastating lines is what happens next: after he takes her, he hates her. That is what sin and lust do. She is not treated as a woman made in God’s image. She is treated as disposable. But, what is so disheartening is David’s response. He hears what happens and becomes very angry. He has emotion. But, there is no justice, no discipline, no protection, and no accountability. The abuse was wicked, but so was the silence afterward.

There is a very clear path forward on the road of justice:

  • The DOJ should immediately release all Epstein files, unredacted, other than the names of victims who wish to remain anonymous.
  • Every co-conspirator and participant should be brought to justice, regardless of their status, power, or position.

The American Council is currently working with the Hill, in hopes that we can introduce legislation called the "Child Trafficking Transparency and Anti-Silencing Act.” This bill would:

  • Void and prohibit the enforcement of any confidentiality term that conceals child sex trafficking or exploitation. Any NDA or settlement clause or non-disparagement clause should be unenforceable if it limits an individual from reporting credible information about child sex trafficking or exploitation.
  • Mandatory disclosure carve-outs for attorneys and settlement agreements in trafficking cases.
  • A federal cause of action for retaliation against anyone who reports credible information about child sex trafficking or exploitation.
  • Authorizes dedicated funding for federal task forces and requires the Department of Justice to publish annual aggregated reporting on trafficking prosecutions, plea outcomes, and declinations.

We owe it to the victims to do better.
